The average Covid case rate in Berkshire is higher than in the UK, with some areas recording a particularly high amount of cases.

There were 13,971 Covid cases recorded in Berkshire for the week up to January 30 which is an increase of 2.9 per cent from the seven days leading up to January 23, according to the UK Coronavirus Dashboard.

This follows a steady upwards trend in Covid cases in Berkshire since mid-January.

The Berkshire case rate for the seven days leading up to January 30 was at 1,540.5 per 100,000 people, which is higher than the UK average of 986 cases per 100,000 people for this period.

Some areas recorded a particularly high Covid rates, Mortimer & Aldermaston Wharf in Reading recording the highest rate in Berkshire at 2,520.3 cases per 100,000 people.
