Police in Maidenhead, Bracknell and Slough have warned online daters to be wary of sextortion scams after a young man became the victim of attempted blackmail.
An ‘attractive young woman’ threatened the man that she would post ‘intimate images’ of him on social media unless he paid her £1,000.

The man and the ‘woman’ had exchanged ‘intimate images’ of each other via an app after meeting on a separate online dating site.
The victim told the ‘woman’ that he didn't have the money and that he wasn't going to pay it.

The woman then asked for online gift cards instead, but the man refused and has not heard from the woman again.
Police said younger and older people, men and women, have all been victims of this type of scam.
