A CARE company has joined forces with Battersea Dogs Home as part of its fundraising initiative.
Starting with a charity dog walk, Home Instead Windsor, Runnymede and West Spelthorne kick started the relationship with the animal rescue centre at the end of 2021.
The walk invited the community to take their furry friends for a stroll along the river, meet new people and have fun in the fresh air.
And the event raised vital funds for the rescue centre at the same time.
More than 50 people gathered at the Runnymede Pleasure Ground Tea Rooms, where everyone enjoyed a hot cuppa.
Anitra Camargo, owner of Home Instead Windsor, Runnymede & West Spelthorne said: “There was a fabulous turn out to our first event, despite the damp weather.
Camargo explained how “wonderful” it was for family and friends of Home Instead to walk together and raise money for a great cause.
She added: “We were proud to raise £400 for Battersea Dogs Home, doing our bit to help dogs be placed in their forever homes.”
Nick Shelly, Battersea Dogs Home community officer, said the walk was a great opportunity to spread the Battersea message and meet lots of people.
Mr Shelly explained the rescue centre will hold events to educate locals about why responsible rehoming dogs and cats has benefits all round.
He added: “Our initiative includes enlisting the much-valued help of amazing volunteers who are caring for dogs and cats within their homes, until they find a new family.
“We are very grateful to Home Instead for organising the sponsored dog walk to raise essential funds for Battersea Dogs Home.”
Throughout December, the home care company also sold ‘Festive Furry Friends’ Christmas card packs at markets, where all the money raised went to Battersea Dogs Home.
Community engagement manager at Home Instead Jo Halstead said: “Our mission at Home Instead is to positively change the experience of those giving and receiving care, and we are advocates for the importance of social and physical interaction for mental wellbeing.
“Our charity walks are a great way to get our older clients out and about amongst their families and friends, all whilst raising money for a great cause.”
