AN INSPIRING team of ice skaters from Slough took home the trophy after using sign language to perform The Greatest Showman at national championships.
The Slough Synchro Skating Club performers glided onto the rink at the Skate London Synchro Opens at Alexandra Palace, London, on November 14 and 15.
Beating eight other teams across the UK, the Adult and the new Beginner teams won gold medals in their categories.
And the clubs’ inclusive team, Spice, made up of young people with additional needs, impressed the judges with their uplifting performance of The Greatest Showman.
The team’s piece, which included sign language of the popular film soundtrack 'This is me', was among the winning ice skaters’ teams for Slough.

Coached by duo, Ryan Sowter and Daniella Alessi, the Intermediate and Senior teams went on to win silver medals in their categories.
Jo Hodgson, chair of Slough Synchro Skating Club, said she is “immensely proud” of how the team performed at the competition.
“We could not be more delighted,” she said.
“This was the first competition to be held in almost two years due to covid after having very limited ice time, practising mainly over Zoom and then latterly in the car park at Slough Ice Arena.
“The results showed all the hard work that was done in the shadow of Slough Ice Arena, with some of our newly formed teams having not even skated together before, but we’ve come away winning three gold and two silver medals.”
All five teams are now working towards the British Championships, which will be held in Nottingham next month.
And the club will be performing at the Christmas Ice Show, at Everyone Active Ice Arena on December 21 and 22.
