A MOUNTAIN of rubbish piling up by an apartment block has attracted vermin, prompting anger from Slough residents.
A tenant from Priory Heights in Buckingham Avenue contacted the Local Democracy Reporting Service, saying they have suffered from garbage left in the bin stores for a few weeks while housing association, Catalyst, conducted works on the building.
Contractors Higgins were carrying out fire risk assessments while other works on the grounds were undertaken.
The resident, who did not want to be identified, said the piles of rubbish have been building up for a couple of weeks attracting rats, while the works have made tenants felt “uncomfortable” with the amount of activity happening and debris dumped in the garden.

Locals have also complained they couldn’t get into the bin store area properly as a dumper truck has been left in front of it, leaving only a narrow gap to squeeze through.
They said: “Every day I am phoning them [Catalyst] up because the bin area they say is not open anymore, there’s still bin bags in there. They haven’t brought out the recycling bins.
“So, all people are doing is just throwing rubbish away.”
They added: “Catalyst did say the contractors were coming onsite and do stuff, but they didn’t say how uncomfortable it was going to be. So, every day, we are finding something.”
The resident also claimed the area where prams and wheelchairs were stored was also blocked off by the workers.
A spokesperson for Catalyst apologised for the confusion around the bin stores where they have now been cleared.
They said: “We apologise for any confusion regarding the bin stores and for the resulting rubbish however this has now been resolved.

“We wrote to residents last week and hand-delivered a letter explaining the new bins and refuse arrangements during the works.
“The entrance to the building and access to the ramp was restricted for a short time only and is now clear and accessible.”
