FIVE Slough men have been fined for poaching after appearing in courts up and down the country.

Poaching is the illegal practice of trespassing on another person’s property to hunt or steal game (animals) without the landowner’s permission.

And that’s what five men from Slough have been convicted of in recent months.

Here are their names and the punishments they received for their offences.

Billy Butler, 21, of Thompson Close was fined £120 for poaching on February 1, 2021 in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

Butler was caught out at the Grundon Waste Site and was also made to pay £119 in court costs when he appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court for his sentencing on Friday, May 28.

Tommy Coates, of Meadfield Road, Slough, was also caught poaching at the same place on the same date.

He had to cough up a fine of £100 after admitting to trespassing, however, as well as a £34 victim surcharge.

The 21-year-old was fined another £200 for a separate offence, too.

Robert Smith, of Foundry Lane, Slough was also caught trespassing in the pursuit of game, this time in December 2019.

The 41-year-old was caught at Chancel Farm in Cambridgeshire and was fined £500 for his poaching offence.

He was also told to pay £300 in court costs.

John Loveridge, 20, of Milton Close and Robert Smith (who is 20 but also of Foundry Lane) were also fined big money for poaching at the same place on the same date.

All three were sentenced at Cambridge Magistrates' Court in May 2021.

The former was made to pay £690 in fines and court fees, whereas the latter was served a £532 bill.
