Plans to convert a former Slough nursery into 14 new flats have been turned down by the council.

Developers wanted to change the use on the ground floor of the former Barney Bees Day Nursery at 253-257 Farnham Road, Slough, in order to provide three self-contained ground floor residential flats.

This would have been completed together with integral cycle parking, undercroft parking and external alterations to the facades of the building.

A two-storey extension at roof level above the first floor to provide an additional 11 self-contained residential flats was also planned, alongside an external railing enclosure, boundary treatment, parking, and landscaping.

The flats would have been two studio apartments, five one-bed apartments and seven two-bedroom apartments with 23 car parking spaces.

The plans have since been turned down by councillors.

One of the reasons for the refusal was the developments height and design would result in a 'dominant and incongruous form of development', said the council.

Other reasons for the refusal included a loss of privacy for neighbouring properties and the development of an open space.
