A DEMOLISHED care home site will see 16 new family houses built as councillors have given plans the nod.
Residents on Upton Road will see new terraced family homes built on the Gurney House site, which use to be a care home.
Gurney House has been demolished and the site has largely been cleared other than concrete, debris, shrubbery, along with trees, bushes fencing, and brickwork along the boundaries.
Each house will be three-bedrooms with a study area and 36 car parking spaces are proposed overall.

Cycle parking is also included, and each property will get one charging point for electric vehicles.
According to the report, the site and the adjacent linkway to Lascelles Park, which is behind the development, have seen anti-social behaviour over the years.
But planning officers say the new homes, as well as new lighting columns, would “likely” cause a reduction in this.
Councillor Haqeeq Dar (Independent: Wexham Lea) asked if CCTV could be added around the site to stop anti-social behaviour entirely as he has reported incidents from the site in the past.
However, planning officers say CCTV wouldn’t be “effective” for the site as it would need good lighting and monitoring.
If surveillance was included, they may have to put it in the future occupiers’ garden, which “may not be ideal” to the homeowners.

Christian Morrone, planning officer at Slough Borough Council, said: “The monitoring is the key issue [because] there would be no one to monitor it.
“We would have cameras there and that would be it. The good thing about the CCTV in the business district is that it’s really well monitored and that’s why it’s so effective.
“If we had cameras without the monitoring, it wouldn’t work.”
Councillors on the planning committee unanimously approved the plans on Wednesday, June 23.
