THE Slough wards with the highest and lowest number of coronavirus cases as the infection rate rises in most local authorities.

Berkshire Public Health (BPH) publishes a weekly Covid-19 briefing and breaks down the data by electoral ward.

The data was published on June 2 and shows the number of reported cases and their infection rate between April 30 and May 27.

BPH has rounded the data for each ward to the nearest five in order to protect the identity of individuals.

Cases across England have been increasing as lockdown eases and the variant originally detected in India continues to spread.

Slough’s weekly infection rate has been rising over the last few days and currently stands at 67.5 per 100,000 population.

In the borough, infection rates have largely remained the same but a few wards, such as Elliman, have seen a small uptick in Covid cases.

Elliman is the ward with the highest infection rate per 100,000 population, standing at 290, followed by Wexham Lea and Langley St Mary’s.

Britwell and Northborough have the lowest at 46 with Haymill and Lynch Hill, Colnbrook with Poyle, and Chalvey not too far behind.

According to the BPH weekly briefing, Slough has had 93 new cases of Covid-19 between May 21 and 27.

Slough currently has recorded 15,814 cases since the start of the pandemic.

The rate for people aged 60 and over is 18.6 per 100,000.

No coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded. The Covid-19 death toll is 344 in the borough.
