A MASTERPLAN to redevelop the shopping centres in Slough town centre has been updated – and residents can give their views.
Another round of public consultation on transforming the Queensmere and Observatory shopping centres is going around, and developers want to know what locals think of the refreshed scheme, known as Slough Central.
Following discussions with Slough Borough Council and community groups, the updated masterplan includes:
- Up to 2,500 new homes
- Up to 15,000 sqm of flexible town centre uses, such as shops, bars, restaurants and community space
- Up to 50,000 sqm of office space
- A series of public, landscaped spaces
- New, safe and accessible routes in the town centre

This consultation will take place ‘at a distance’, using online and offline tools, in order to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the community during the pandemic.
Hard copies of consultation material will be made available on request to those without internet access or those who don’t want to engage digitally.
Russell O’Hare, development director for the project, said: “The proposals for Slough Central seek to bring investment, community and activity to the heart of Slough town centre.
“We are grateful for all of the feedback received from the community and key stakeholders to date and are keen to hear the views of local people on the updated proposals, which have been developed in response to the feedback received last year.”

The emerging vision for Slough Central was first shared in spring 2020 but has been tweaked over the past year to ensure the plans respond to the needs and aspirations of this part of the town centre.
Residents have until June 13, 2021, to respond to the consultation.
