THESE are the areas of the Slough borough with the best and worst Covid-19 infection rates in the past seven days.

The infection rate reflects how many people in an area are currently infected with the virus, and is a signifier of how much it is spreading locally.

Some areas of the borough are doing a great job of controlling infection to rid themselves of Covid-19, while others are still struggling to bring infections down despite clear rules on social distancing being in place for more than a year.

Overall, the area has seemingly plateaued in terms of controlling the virus.

The Slough district's current infection rate is 83.6 infections per 100,000 people in the seven days to March 26, the most up to date official Government figures.

Slough's rate is still the highest in Berkshire. The rate is way above the UK national average, which currently stands at 55.4 infections per 100,000 people.

Below are the areas with the highest and lowest Covid-19 infection rates in the district, broken down by Middle Super Output Area, a hyper-local method of measuring statistics by areas with a population of around 7,200 people.

The five areas with the worst Covid-19 infection rates are:

  1. Cippenham Green - 142.6 
  2. Langley Foxborough - 135.7 per 100,000 people
  3. Chalvey - 84.9 per 100,000 people
  4. Colnbrook & Poyle - 106.9 per 100,000 people
  5. Cippenham Meadows - 90.9 per 100,000 people

The five areas with the best Covid-19 infection rates are:

  1. Stoke Poges & George Green - 33.4 per 100,000 people
  2. Central Slough & Upton Court -60.9 per 100,000 people
  3. Manor Park - 82.0 per 100,000 people
  4. Wexham Lea - 61.8 per 100,000 people
  5. Stoke Road & Wexham Road - 82.1 per 100,000 people
