Special guests from the Royal Opera House, the BBC Symphony and the Philharmonia Orchestras visited Langley Hall Primary School on Tuesday to give their backing to a thrilling new project.

The guests were professional musicians Debora Grundmann, Nicholas Korth and Nuno Carapina.

They had come to witness the school's music department at work and to support the opening of its planned new Music Academy in January, which will offer Saturday tuition to former pupils and children from the wider community who want to expand their musical skills.

The visit offered an extraordinary opportunity for students at the school in Station Road, Langley to meet professionals and to learn about their experiences within the music industry.

The new academy has also been offered the support of conductor Martin Andre for the forthcoming project. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Music and has more than 30 years of experience conducting orchestras and leading opera productions all over the world, as well as being involved with and conducting youth orchestras.

Carla Santos, Head of the new Langley Hall Music Academy, expressed her gratitude to everyone involved in arranging Tuesday’s visit and the prospect of a bright future for music making at the new weekend academy.
