A virtual walk over Zoom last Wednesday will help save the sight of people in Africa.

More than 40 members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Elders Association (AMEA) in Slough took part, ranging in age from to late 70s, walking together for a mile in their homes in aid of the Masroor Eye Institute in Burkina Faso.

The institute is funded by donations from AMEA branches across the UK and will be a state-of-the-art teaching eye hospital with a planned completion by December 2020.

It will benefit the whole of West Africa providing free premium eye treatments for thousands of patients every year.

Haider Hameed, one of the organisers of the virtual walk said: "I feel in an honoured position to help others across the world who are vulnerable and less fortunate.

"I humbly request the generous public to contribute as even a small donation will have a big impact. £50 can save one person from blindness and transform their life.
