Upton Court Grammar School in Lascelles Road is celebrating its GCSE results - achieved despite the challenges of covid-19 and changes to how grades were assessed.

It comes after Upton Court has been named as top school in the borough by the Real Schools Guide 2020.

Headteacher Mark Pritchard said: “All at Upton Court Grammar School are celebrating the fantastic results achieved by our students today. Students’ academic outcomes reflect their hard work over their time at the school and the expert teaching they have received from our dedicated staff."

The previous year’s results ranked Upton Court Grammar School within the top 10 of all schools in the country. Almost two thirds of students’ results this year were the highest grades of 7 to 9 (previously A and A*) and every pupil achieved 9 to 5 including English and maths.

Madhurun Samithurai achieved 100 per cent grades 7 to 9, with grade 9s in maths, geography, religious studies, chemistry and physics. Madhurun also achieved an A grade in additional maths.
