The empty Debenhams site at Slough's Queensmere Observatory shopping centre has got a new tenant.
Slough was just one of the towns left with a depressing gap after Debenhams pulled out - but now the prime site will house the national retailer Factory Outlet.
Centre manager Chris Shaw said: “We are delighted to have secured Factory Outlet into the former Debenhams unit. It’s a positive step following a difficult time for retail across the country and illustrates the confidence that key retailers have in the centre."
A spokesperson for Factory Outlet said: “Factory Outlet are delighted to be opening our new store in the Queensmere Centre, which is the premier shopping location in Slough. We’re looking forward to opening our doors in the iconic former Debenhams store and offering our customers a diverse range of products including homeware, fashion, gifts, seasonal items and electrical goods, all offered at competitively low prices.
"We appreciate that customer safety is paramount in the current climate and therefore we have introduced a range of in-store measures to ensure our customers will enjoy a safe and unique shopping experience and we look forward to welcoming them soon."
The 572,000 sq ft Queensmere Observatory centre, anchored by Primark and TK Maxx generates a weekly footfall of 100,000 to the area.
