Slough's Hindu temple in Keel Drive is teaming up with the Sewa Day charity to operate a vegetarian kitchen to feed NHS heroes and vulnerable people in Slough.
The Sewa Kitchen will initially provide 250 plus meals a day.
Suhas Madhekar, the coordinator for Sewa Day West London zone said: “The Hindu Temple Slough has kindly offered its kitchen facilities as well as food for use in this noble cause. We are also thankful for the many volunteers who have donated food as well as their time and resources in helping us prepare and distribute the meals.
"The raw materials and ingredients for the daily meals are donated by the Hindu temple and the volunteers themselves.
"However over time we will need more volunteers and more people to donate the food.
"We appreciate that during the lockdown it may be difficult for people to buy the food and donate, so we also have a facility for people to donate cash directly to our bank account without having to go out.”
