Police and members of the public who showed outstanding dedication or bravery were honoured last week.
Acting Commander of Slough Local Policing Area Superintendent Lee Barnham was joined by over 80 guests at Slough and Eton School in Ragstone Road, as the Slough Local Policing Area Commendation awards were presented.
Over the course of the night, awards were given for disrupting county lines while protecting vulnerable members of the community, dealing with suspects believed to be in possession of weapons, providing life-saving first aid - also supporting the homeless community.
Awards were presented to the following people.
*PC Priya Bangar, PC William Franklin, PC Mark Zilles and PC Patrick Rumbol, were commended for their bravery in finding and restraining a man armed with a Samurai sword, the recovery of the weapon and the prosecution of the offender.
*PCSO (Police Community Support Officer) Owen Chandamale was commended for stopping a young man from harming himself and preventing two social workers from being assaulted. He was new in service and acting without the support of police officers.
*PC Sam Hewitt was awarded for bravely dealing with a suspect believed to be in possession of a firearm.
*PCs Alice Herbert and Clayton George were commended for supporting a vulnerable, high risk domestic abuse victim and encouraging her to engage with the police.
*PCSOs Pawel Pietras and Bradley Gibbs were commended for their actions in Farnham Road, Slough on April 7, 2018, in responding to an incident involving a male with stab and slash wounds. They administered effective first aid allowing officers to deal with the situation. PSCO Pawel has also worked with the Polish community - both assisting officers with communication and working to improve their welfare.
*PC James Fleig and Nick Macchia were commended for their roles in providing life-saving first aid treatment, which included CPR, to a seriously injured young boy and for their calm, clear and concise radio updates which enabled their colleagues to respond appropriately to the incident. PCs Mark Franklin and PC Stuart Laws were also awarded for their role in catching a violent individual who was suspected of attempting to murder his younger brother just a few hours earlier.
*PCs Nathaniel Corder, Ben Bacchus, Chris Jones, Richard Goreham, Jon Hockley and SC Oscar Blunt were awarded for their actions in providing CPR to an unconscious man on Parlaunt Road, Langley on July 22, 2019.
*PCs Ella Marriott, Sam Morris, Huw Kime, Vimal Suraman-Maharaj and Matt Lynch were commended for safeguarding a vulnerable victim of abuse helping to ensure the suspect was charged with serious offences.
*DC Ben Walker-Hall was commended for his tenacity in investigating the robbery of a young boy, supporting and encouraging the victim.
*Members of the public John Goudie, Stuart Adnitt, James Lingard and Mandy McGuire were commended for their outstanding contribution in supporting the homeless community, by engaging with them and responding to their concerns.
Mr Goudie has been a volunteer with The London and Slough Run for 16 years, a charity set up to support the homeless and those rough sleeping. John runs and manages the night shelter often getting up at 4am to drive some of those using the shelter to their place of work, keeping them in employment.
Mr Adnitt was awarded for his ongoing commitment in providing long term housing solutions for rough sleepers in Slough.
Mr Lingard was awarded for the support he has given the homeless community in Slough by assisting them into employment giving them a chance to change the course of their future.
Mandy McGuire was awarded for providing the homeless community in Slough with ongoing support whilst they prepared for and began their passage into employment.
Slough’s Acting LPA Commander, Superintendent Lee Barnham said: “This evening has been full of examples of bravery, high quality investigations in bringing people to justice and dedication to serving the community in Slough.
“They are incredible examples of the work that goes on day in and day out in Slough. I am extremely proud of those commended tonight and am privileged to work alongside them.”
