Slough has been revealed as one of the five most accident-prone locations in the UK, according to new research from moneysupermarket.com.
A study of over 5.5 million insurance made on the site across 124 location found that motorists across the borough are the fifth most accident prone across the country, with over a fifth (20.9 percent) of drivers being involved in a crash over the last five years.
Watford (22.2 percent) tops the list, with St. Albans (21.8 percent), Hemel Hempstead (21.4 percent) and Sutton (21 percent) having higher percentages of reported accidents than Slough.
According to the figures, Scottish drivers are amongst the safest in the UK, with the top three least accident-prone locations (Outer Hebrides, Lerwick and Kirkwall) being north of the border.
The research also shows that 19 percent of women were involved in car accidents over the last five years, in comparison to 16.7 percent of men.
Emma Garland, data scientist at moneysupermarket.com, said: “Nationally, one in six drivers have been in a car accident in the last five years, although most are likely to be minor scrapes. Ensuring you have the right cover means you have one less thing to worry about if anything happens.”
