A school in Slough has confirmed that a supply teacher had to be escorted from the premises after students reported being racially abused from the member of staff.
The incident occurred at Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy on Stoke Road on the March 6. When the class began talking amongst themselves, the member of staff was allegedly unable to calm the students and then launched into a racist tirade.
Zeeshan said: “The class were a bit chatty and I didn’t think the teacher knew how to control the class. She told us to stay quite but no one really listened.
“After this, she got angry and said to the whole class that we were immigrants and we should go back to our own country. Me and my friend got aggravated at this and stood up. After we stood up, she got more angry and said to me and my friend that we were bombers and rapists.”
Annaz, Zeeshan’s father, was away in Sri Lanka when the incident occurred. He said: “School’s should be a place of discipline. How can teachers speak like that to the kids? At the end of the day, whether it is a supply teacher or a teacher, it doesn’t matter. It is a teacher.”
Chris Thomas, head teacher of Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy, said: “Within minutes of this incident happening, we took immediate action. The supply teacher in question was escorted from the premises and the supply agency was informed for them to take appropriate action. The pupils were also immediately informed of what we had done so they could be reassured.
“As a school that celebrates diversity and the cultural background of all its pupils, we were appalled by these comments. This type of racist abuse is abhorrent to us and we will not tolerate a verbal assault of this nature on our children.”
