AMELIE MORGAN has travelled to the prestigious Echo Arena in Liverpool to compete in the British Gymnastics Championships.
At just 13-years-old, this was her first time competing in such a big arena and to be alongside some of her gymnastics idols such as Claudia Fragapane was a real honour, albeit a little daunting.
Morgan took part in the four-day event which started with a warm up training session.
A nerve-wracking all-round competition followed and Morgan managed to ‘go clean’ on all four pieces to pick up the silver medal overall – an outstanding result for the first year junior.
The strong performance meant that she qualified for all four apparatus finals, one of only two gymnasts to do so.
After a day’s rest, where she got to watch the seniors compete including Olympic bronze medallist Amy Tinker, Olympians Ellie and Becky Downie, plus Fragapane, Morgan had to take to the stage again.
She managed to pull off another fantastic round of competition with two impressive, solid vaults and a confident bar routine. This led to Morgan coming away with a silver medal on both these pieces of apparatus.
It was the beam where she impressed further and managed to hold her nerve on this tough piece of apparatus to be crowned British Champion for her gold medal-winning routine.
Morgan trains at Slough Gymnastics under coach, Ellie Jones.
