Dent, Chris

THE heartbroken wife of a police officer killed in a road accident has paid tribute to her ‘soul-mate’. Niki Dent says she has been robbed of her 36-year-old husband Chris, who died after colliding with a car in Perivale. The 36-year-old Met police officer sent her a text to say he was coming home to St George’s Crescent in Cippenham on Wednesday last week. He tragically never completed the journey back to his wife and three children and died minutes later. She said: “He’s my soul-mate. My world has been ripped apart and I’m heart broken. He’d call and text me when he was on his break so it’s very hard not to be able to hear his voice. The kids are devastated but they are trying to be strong and are back in school - which is what he would have wanted. He’s their hero and he gave them great life skills which will help them forever.” He grew up in Dedworth with his a brother and four sister including twin Annmarie. Mrs Dent added: “He was a proud dad and loved all of them equally. He was big on family and loved having everyone around for barbecue even though he’d always burn the food.” He studied at Windsor Boys School, before joining the Army in the Royal Artillery. He was a former beat bobby for Burnham during a stint for the Thames Valley Police before joining Met police. Mrs Dent added: “He was in his dream job as a traffic police man - he loved being on his bike and protecting others. He loved bikes and we’d often go on rides and just spend time together. Infact we were planning on having a curry last weekend. It’s strange how life can change so quickly. I miss him everyday.”
