Chapman, Steven

TRIBUTES have been paid to a new dad, who recently celebrated his engagement, after he was tragically killed in a forklift truck accident. Steven Chapman, 29, is believed to have been driving the truck when it toppled over at HRP in Edinburgh Avenue, Slough on Tuesday. He was rushed to the major trauma unit at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford on Tuesday where doctors fought to save his life but he died later that evening. The news has devastated his fiancee Carrie, who has a seven-month-old baby girl Keeley with him, mum Ann and older sisters Sonya, Shelley and Sally. Sister Sonya Harrison, said: “He was very funny and a gentle giant. The whole family is in shock. “He was totally in love. He was with Carrie for three years, but they would have been together for the next 70-years. They were totally just meant to be together which is why it’s just so tragic. “He was a doting dad and uncle, when Keeley came along she was the spitting image of him. And in the last couple of weeks she even started saying ‘dad’.” His sister Sally left a poem on the Observer website which said: Sad is the heart that loved you Softly my tears will fall, But living life without you Is the saddest part of all. You were so very special I loved you till the end, I lost a special person, My very own best friend. Anyone with fond memories or tributes to Mr Chapman can leave them below.
