A karate group are thrilled after a girl brought home a silver medal in a national competition.

Maja Urban has made history with her performance at the National Karate Championships 2024.

Having trained at Eagle Institute club in Slough, her trainers are "brimming with pride and excitement" following her performance.

Over the past weekend, Maja participated alongside four other athletes from Slough.

Maja clinched a silver medal in the 12 to 13 years old under 47kg Individual Kumite category.

Piotr Urban from Eagle Institue said: "This achievement is not just a personal triumph for Maja but a monumental moment for our club and Slough.

"It has filled us with immense pride and joy."

Maja’s performance has earned her an invitation to trial for the England National Karate Team.

This opportunity opens doors for her to hone her skills alongside some of the country’s finest athletes and under the tutelage of highly skilled coaches.

Piotr added: "Maja's achievement is more than just a personal triumph. It is a testament to the talent and dedication that exists within our community and a beacon of inspiration for young athletes."
