THE art of Brazilian football is alive and kicking after 107 children attended a free open-evening at Langley Academy.
The free-to-register event was the brainchild of global football academy, TetraBrazil, plus PE and football coach, Adam Cash, who is keen for youngsters to learn more about Futsal to hone their footwork.
Adam was joined by his brother and Nottingham Forest midfielder, Matty Cash, as well as former Crystal Palace and Brentford midfielder, David Hunt, plus Chris Sharman, CEO of TetraBrazil, to demonstrate the art of South American football.
Children ranging from 5-18 were treated to silky skills from the inspired teenage Championship hotshot, who is keen for more players from Slough plus neighbouring towns and villages to take their game to the next level.
The complimentary event, which was split into two one-hour sessions, was open to boys and girls of mixed abilities.
It was designed to give youngsters a taste of modern day coaching techniques using a weighted Futsal skill-ball, which has been synonymous with the southern hemisphere for decades.
Speaking at the event, Cash said that he first used a Futsal ball while on the youth books at Wycombe Wanderers.
He said: “I learned a lot using a Futsal ball. It’s something that everyone should practise with as it definitely helped me to improve my footwork on the ball.

“With the right level of coaching, dedication and practice, there’s no reason why a number of youngsters in Slough can’t go on to play professional football, or to a good standard.
“Before becoming a professional footballer, I was working in a Daniel’s department store. I then went for a trial at Nottingham Forest and the club wanted to sign me, so that’s how it happened for me.
"Since then I’ve been fortunate to play in front of 52,000 people, but I’m not the only one from Slough who can make the grade.
“I just wish TetraBrazil was around when I was younger as I believe it would have really helped me.
“Thanks to the art of Futsal, the Brazilian national football team has won the World Cup five times, and is the only team to succeed in qualifying for every World Cup competition since 1930.
TetraBrazil now runs back-to-back coaching sessions at Langley Academy between 6-7pm (under-10s) and 7-8pm (11+).
