SLOUGH TOWN will return to the borough in their homecoming match this Monday standing second in the Southern Premier Division table after a 3-1 win away at Cirencester Town on Saturday.
The Rebels have made a fine start to the new season, losing just once in six matches, and were dominant at the Corinium Stadium.
Gavin James scored his first goal for Slough inside four minutes in Gloucestershire. The international striker ran onto a Warren Harris through pass and slipped the ball between the legs of keeper Harvey Rivers.
The Rebels had claims for a penalty waved away as they piled on the pressure early in the second half, and it was the home team that scored next.
Slough stopper Mark Scott came out of his goal but could not clear the danger and Charlie Griffin was able to score from a wide angle.
The scores were not level for long however, and Rebels were back in front just four minutes later as Lewis Putman fired home.
James - who is now on international duty with St Vincent & the Grenadines - doubled his own tally for the match to give Slough a two-goal cushion with 10 minutes remaining. His header came back off a post and rolled along the line before eventually creeping in.
There was still time for substitute Charlie Moone to have a goal ruled out for handball, but the Rebels had done enough to register another three points.
Slough celebrate their homecoming into Arbour Park with a league fixture against Hayes & Yeading United on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm).
The historic event is ticket only and sold out, with around 1,500 Rebels expected to pack out the newly-built football stadium.
Windsor registered a first draw this season after they were held 1-1 by North Greenford United at Berkeley Fields on Saturday.
Chris Mills was unfortunate not to give North Greenford the lead when his shot at goal hit the post early on, but it was Windsor that led at the break.
Tre Mitford was the man on target in the 30th minute, his third goal in two matches since joining the club.
North Greenford struck the post again in the second half, but got their equalising goal via Sandro Costa on 62 minutes.
The result means Windsor stand fourth in the Combined Counties Premier Division table ahead of the visit to Stag Meadow from Walton & Hersham on Monday (11.30am).
