IT was medals all round for Slough Gymnastics Club at the National Finals after their artistic gymansts excelled again in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
Amelie Morgan, 11, from Farnham Common, became British Champion for the second year running after beating 32 gymnasts from across the country to top spot at Guildford Leisure Centre.
The prestigious British ranking is awarded to the gymnast who scores the highest when combining the their results from Compulsory Grade in the Spring and their Voluntary competition in the Autumn.
Morgan puts in 24 hours of training a week to reach her elite level and had to overcome three broken ribs just five weeks before the finals.
She regularly trains at Lillishall National Training Centre in Shropshire and once again excelled to repeat her success of the previous year.
It was also a great performance from her Slough teammate, Ellie Botterill.
She re-took her Compulsory Grade last weekend and won gold with a fantastic new floor routine that wowed the judges.
Mya Thomas-Osbourne, from Slough, produced a magnificent performance in her first National Finals to pick up bronze in the Voluntary Competition.
The nine-year-old is the youngster member of Slough’s Elite Squad and has a bright future if her debut performance is anything to go by.
Ellie Jones is the woman who coaches all three and helps them achieve their potential - and she was honoured as she won the “Outstanding Coach” award in recognition of her work.
There was further success when two members of Slough Gymnastics boys squad competed at the Mens Artistic Development Grades competition’s National Finals.
Musa Siddiqi and Finlay Morgan came fourth and fifth respectively out of 48 gymnasts from all around the country.
