A GRAMMAR school will change its name in an image transformation to adapt to a changing education environment.

Slough Grammar School, in Lascelles Road, will change its name to Upton Court Grammar School as it enters its second century of existence.

The school, which opened in 1912, said after consulting with pupils, parents and the community it has decided to rebrand the school with the name change and will review the school's colours and crest.

Mercedes Hern�ndez Estrada, principal, said: "This is an exciting time for all of us; we are proud of our traditions and record of excellence but we are also conscious of the need to adapt to the changing environment in education.

"We take our responsibility to raise standards both here and beyond our school doors seriously. We will build on the traditions of the past whilst looking forward to the possibilities the next century will bring. Our motto, 'Ad Astra' (Reach for the Stars) continues to be core to everything we do." The school is undergoing multi-million pound investment to upgrade its facilities and received teaching school status earlier this month.

Changes are expected to be introduced from September 1 and parents will be kept informed through the school's website and newsletter.
