A FESTIVAL in Slough is gearing up to celebrate all that’s great about the town and it’s communities, thanks to a creative arts programme.

HOME Slough, which creates opportunities for arts and community organisations in the town, has put a commission call out for its latest project, LOVE Slough.

Taking place in March, the event will see communities celebrate and bring pride to the town while having fun at the same time.

And creatives have the chance to get up to £3,000 towards an artist project in Slough that fits the theme of the LOVE Slough programme.

Claire Giacobbe, of HOME Slough, said she feels proud looking back at what the programme has already done in the town.

She said: “We’re encouraging creative people in Slough to have a voice so they can spread the word throughout their own communities.

“Our biggest objective is to engage with as many people as possible and we’re already seeing great results after just six months since our revised programme.”

Ms Giacobbe added the aim is to get positive stories out to residents and to get that community feel again.

HOME Slough explained pitches can be anything creative that has a public output.

This could include an exhibition, performance, a community event, dance, flash mob, workshop, a micro-festival.

The programme is looking for ideas that will engage with the local Slough community, is accessible to as many people as possible and represents the diversity of the town.

Other criteria that HOME Slough will consider is artists who bring a sense of pride to the town, whether the pitches are free to participate, its relevance to Slough and projects that consider sustainability.

All projects will be selected by the LOVE Slough Commissioning Panel, a group of volunteers from the area.

Ideas will need to be delivered by Sunday, March 20.
