A driver and his passenger narrowly escaped a car fire when their Mercedes set ablaze as they drove along Langley High Street at 3.10pm today (Saturday, May 26).
The Langley fire crew rushed to the scene after a passer-by saw the car 'well alight' as it was being driven along the busy Saturday main street.
Shoppers and pedestrians looked on as a man waved frantically at the driver pointing to his engine.
The male driver pulled over and got his woman passenger out as the blaze took hold.
By the time firefighters arrived the car was a 'write off'.
The crew used foam from one of their hose reels to quell the blaze and left after around 45 minutes.
No one was injured.
