An Audi driver will have to pay over £1,000 after being caught driving in a 40 mile per hour (mph) zone at a speed well above the national limit.

Sukhdeep Kanwar, 41, of Rochfords Gardens, Slough, appeared before High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on March 12.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of speeding. This was in connection with an incident on May 11, 2023.

A police officer observed Kanwar travelling in the village of Wexham, along the border between Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. He was driving an Audi at speed.

It was found that he was driving at 67mph - despite the road in question being a 40mph zone.

Magistrates handed Kanwar a £666 fine.

In addition, he must pay a victim surcharge of £266, and £300 in court costs. Therefore, his final court bill comes to £1,232.

In spite of this, magistrates only suspended Kanwar's driving licence for 16 days.

His licence was also endorsed with penalty points.
